John DeLuca is the owner and head instructor of DeLuca's Martial Arts, in West Springfield, Massachusetts. John’s school specializes in teaching the martial art of Kenpo for personal development and self defense. He has been studying Kenpo for over 37 years, and he is trained and ranked by Grand Master Al Tracy. Mr. Tracy is the head of the world’s largest Kenpo system. John holds a 6th degree Black Belt and has been a featured instructor at the Gathering of Eagles in Las Vegas and Chicago during the 3 largest Kenpo events in history. In 2007, John was inducted as a charter member into the Kenpo Hall of Fame.

John is also an instructor in the art of Japanese sword known as Eishin-Ryu Iaido. He studies under Masayuki Shimabukuro Sensei and Carl Long Sensei. This art teaches the 450 year old tradition of drawing and cutting in one-on-one combat with the Japanese sword.

Other credits include having been a certified instructor under World Champion Bart Vale in the art of ShootfightingÒ. ShootfightingÒ is a form of full contact kick boxing combined with full submission grappling. John has appeared with Bart Vale as an official at the New England ShootfightingÒ Championships, and was formerly the New England Regional Representative for the International ShootfightingÒ Association.

John has spent over 25 years in law enforcement as a West Springfield Special Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff. He was also a founding member of the Hampden County Prisoner Apprehension Team. In addition to being a team leader and martial arts trainer, he has taught many law enforcement and military personnel. He currently acts as an advisor and defensive tactics instructor for the Sheriffs Department and holds the rank of lieutenant.

John's first experience in martial arts was in 1965, at age 7, as a Judo student. His formal study of Kenpo began in 1973. He has also studied Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, and Ju Jutsu. John founded the first Martial Arts Explorer Post with the Boy Scouts of America in 1977.

John has recently introduced the “Success for Life” program at his new West Springfield facility. This exciting new children’s education program is designed to teach children the character skills they need to be successful, while simultaneously developing the physical skills that create confidence and a healthy body.
